In 2023, the NFL introduced a flag football game format for the Pro Bowl

February 2nd, 2023

In 2023, the Pro Bowl underwent a transformation and is now known as the Pro Bowl Games. Instead of the usual full-contact football, where the league’s top players strive to avoid injuries, AFC and NFC players have adopted a more relaxed approach. They will now demonstrate their skills through a series of skill competitions and engage in a non-contact flag football game.

Yes, you read it right: flag football!

An exceptional display of hand-eye coordination as the player’s objective is to grab their opponent’s flag during the play.

This NFL decision is also aimed at promoting the sport on an international scale. The league has already joined forces with the International Federation of American Football to introduce flag football at the World Games in July and, with any luck, make it an Olympic sport by 2028.

Peter Reilly, the NFL’s executive vice president of club and league events said the league was “thrilled to use The Pro Bowl Games as a platform to spotlight flag football as an integral part of the sport’s future”

The game it’s not only filled with star-studded talent on the field; it also boasts celebrity presence on the sidelines like Peyton Manning, Ray Lewis, Diana Flores, Eli Manning, DeMarcus Ware and Vanita Krouch.
